The UC Student Regent is a voting member of The Regents of the University of California, attending all meetings of the Board and its Committees and serving a one-year term commencing July 1. The Board of Regents meets six times a year, every other month, in two-day meetings. The powers and authorities of The Regents are broadly established in the Constitution of the State of California and are reflected in Bylaw 5 of The Regents of the University of California.

The Student Regent is reimbursed for expenses incurred for attendance at meetings of the Board and its Committees. All mandatory University fees and tuition are waived for the student Regent during the academic years in which he or she serves as a Regent-designate and as a member of the Board.

SCORZA Bio

D'Artagnan Scorza is the student Regent for one year, July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Mr. Scorza received his bachelor's degree in the study of religion from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007. He is a graduate student at UCLA working on his Ph.D. in education. As an undergraduate at UCLA, he was active in serveral community service projects which included serving as a mentor at the Student Retention Center and as a student representative on the Chancellor's Enrollment Advisory Committee. While an undergraduate, Mr. Scorza's UC education was interrupted after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, when he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Iraq. There he was responsible for personnel records and communications management activities.
