The Office of the Dean of Students is committed to the development of its student leaders. We believe that a student who is engaged and involved at UCI will leave with a set of five Core Leadership Competencies through their roles on UCI's campus. The objective of these competencies is to verbalize the Office of the Dean of Student's commitment to preparing students to become transformational leaders, empowered to create positive change on this campus and in their local, national, and global communities.

The ability to develop and sustain productive relationships through effectively communicating, manage conflicts respectfully, and to work collaboratively with diverse populations.

To develop skills in professionalism, supervisory and time management on top of basic abilities to function efficiently and effectively in the work place.

VALUING DIVERSITY

Develop an understanding of our difference as well as our similarities that enrich our core and provide us the foundation to build a more socially just world.

ETHICAL DECISION-MAKING

To critically weigh all options in light of values such as respect, fairness, integrity, honest, civility and accountability before taking action.
