Program Outcomes
Through their internships and
coursework, the Administrative Interns become
familiar with the various factors that influence
University of California and UCI policy development.
Interns also acquire a greater awareness of management
styles, trends, and issues in higher education
and industry. Interns can expect to experience
the following:
• Through contact with key campus managers and
departments, interns gain a clearer understanding
of how decisions are made in a complex bureaucracy.
• Through course readings, assignments, team projects,
and site visits, interns achieve a better understanding
of workplace dynamics and trends.
• Interns acquire a better understanding of their
own personal values, professional interests, and
career goals.
Students find the Administrative
Intern Program both a valuable experience and
an asset in applying to graduate school or seeking
employment. In recent years, interns have pursued
graduate study in such fields as business administration,
higher education administration, international
relations, law, medicine, museum management, and
public policy. Interns have continued their studies
at institutions such as Columbia University, Stanford
University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and the University
of Maryland. Former interns hold professional
positions as attorneys, business entrepreneurs,
doctors, educational administrators, health care
administrators, and management consultants.
